This training portal was developed to facilitate students and teachers of chemistry in secondary schools in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Bulgaria. The site was prepared in the framework of the STAR Science project ( Science Teachers Associated e-learning Resources) of the EU Socrates-Minerva Programme.

Three chemistry topics are covered: Chemical Bonding; Chemical Reactions; Hydrocarbons and Fuels. The intentions for the future are to include all main topics from the second level chemistry curricula of the three countries. The site is specifically designed to allow school teachers and students to communicate with the project team in the development of the content and to take part in online discussions. The participation of teachers and students in these activities is most welcome and will be appreciated.

The structure of the site is simple. There are two links on the main chemistry menu page that lead to chemistry content: Chemistry Topics and Chemistry Community. Chemistry Topics take you to the three main themes. Each of these has six sub-headings corresponding to more specific subjects. There are further links that lead to selected internet resources, theoretical conceptions, simulations, virtual experiments, problems and tests. The link Community in the main menu provides access to important general web sites for secondary school chemistry
