The pollution of the environment during the combustion of the different types of fuels is caused mostly from the burning of the different sulphur and nitrogen containing compounds. If the combustion is carried out at high temperature and pressure, an interaction between the oxygen and nitrogen from the air is also possible. The sulphur and nitrogen oxides that are released are harmful to the environment. Special measures are needed to reduce their free release in the atmosphere. The main product of the combustion process is the carbon dioxide. It is considered the main factor for the so-called greenhouse effect.
